THERAPY FAQ
VERITAS CLINICAL COUNSELING
Telehealth Psychotherapy in Boise, the Treasure Valley & Idaho
Choosing to begin therapy often comes with questions about the process, confidentiality, scheduling, fees, and what to expect. The answers below address many of the questions people commonly have when considering psychotherapy.
What is Veritas Clinical Counseling?
Veritas Clinical Counseling is a psychotherapy practice serving adults in Boise, the Treasure Valley, and the state of Idaho. Therapy focuses on understanding the emotional patterns, relationship dynamics, and life experiences that shape how people think, feel, and respond to the world.
How do I get started with therapy?
The first step is scheduling a complimentary 15-minute consultation call through the website. This brief conversation allows us to clarify what is bringing you to therapy, answer basic questions, and determine whether scheduling an initial assessment would be appropriate.
What is the consultation call?
The consultation is a 15-minute phone call that provides an opportunity to briefly discuss what you are hoping to work on in therapy, ask questions about the process, and determine whether we are a good fit before scheduling a full assessment.
What happens during the initial assessment?
The initial assessment is a 90-minute session focused on understanding your history, current concerns, and goals for therapy. Information gathered during this session is used to develop a clinical formulation that provides structure and direction for treatment.
How often do therapy sessions occur?
Most clients begin therapy with weekly sessions. Over time, session frequency may change depending on progress, goals, and individual needs.
How long does therapy usually last?
The length of therapy varies depending on the concerns being addressed and their complexity. Many individuals participate in therapy for approximately 12 to 20 sessions, although some concerns may be addressed in fewer sessions.
Do you offer brief therapy for short-term concerns?
Yes. Some concerns are well suited to a solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) approach that emphasizes clear goals, existing strengths, and practical solutions. For concerns involving longstanding emotional patterns, relationship difficulties, or recurring challenges, therapy may naturally expand into a more in-depth process aimed at understanding and addressing the underlying causes.
What happens in a typical therapy session?
Sessions are guided conversations focused on understanding the thoughts, emotions, experiences, and relationships that are affecting your life. Together, we explore the patterns that influence how you think, feel, and respond, helping you develop greater self-awareness, process difficult experiences, and create meaningful, lasting change.
What types of issues can therapy help with?
Therapy can help with concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, emotional regulation, trauma and personal development. Many people also seek therapy to better understand patterns in their relationships, decisions, and emotional responses.
What if I have never been to therapy before?
Many people come to therapy without knowing what to expect, and that is completely okay. Therapy is often different than people imagine. Sometimes the most important moments come from something that initially seems insignificant. A hesitation, a change in tone, a sigh, or a passing thought can reveal patterns, emotions, and beliefs operating beneath awareness. Therapy is about slowing down enough to notice what has been there all along and discovering the deeper meaning behind your experiences.
What if I am unsure what I want to work on in therapy?
You do not need to have everything figured out before beginning therapy. Many people seek therapy because they know something feels off. They may feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or unlike themselves, even if they cannot fully explain why. Together, we explore what is happening beneath the surface, identify what is contributing to those experiences, and develop a clear direction for meaningful change.

Do you accept insurance?
Veritas Clinical Counseling is a private pay practice, and insurance is not billed directly. Upon request, a superbill can be provided for clients who wish to pursue out-of-network reimbursement through their insurance provider.
What does therapy cost?
Therapy fees vary depending on the type and length of session. Veritas Clinical Counseling offers a consultation call, an initial assessment session, and ongoing psychotherapy sessions. Current fees are listed on the Services & Pricing page of the website.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes. What you share in therapy is private and protected. Creating a space where you can speak openly and honestly is essential to meaningful therapeutic work. There are a few legal exceptions to confidentiality, including situations involving an immediate risk of serious harm, suspected abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult, or when disclosure is required by court order or other applicable law.
Do you offer in-person therapy in Boise or the Treasure Valley?
Veritas Clinical Counseling currently provides psychotherapy exclusively through secure telehealth. Virtual therapy is available for clients in Boise, Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Eagle, Star, Kuna, Middleton, throughout the Treasure Valley, and across the state of Idaho.
Can therapy be done online?
Yes. Telehealth makes therapy more accessible and convenient without sacrificing quality. Sessions can be attended from your home, office, or another private location, eliminating travel time, traffic, and waiting rooms. Many clients appreciate being able to schedule therapy around work, school, and family responsibilities, making it easier to attend consistently and remain engaged in treatment.
Do you offer phone therapy sessions?
Yes. In addition to in-person and telehealth appointments, therapy sessions may also be conducted by phone when appropriate.
When should I consider therapy?
You may want to consider therapy when you recognize that something in your life is no longer working the way you want it to. You may feel stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or find yourself repeating the same patterns despite your best efforts to change. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from psychotherapy. Whether you are seeking therapy for anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress, or a deeper understanding of yourself, therapy can help you identify the underlying patterns contributing to your difficulties and create meaningful, lasting change.
How soon can I start therapy?
Appointment availability varies depending on scheduling and demand. New clients typically begin by scheduling a brief consultation call to determine whether an initial assessment appointment would be appropriate.
